A 22-year-old engineering student committed suicide by hanging himself after being harassed by employees of a Chinese loan-giving app. According to reports, the deceased had borrowed money from the app agents but failed to pay them back.
The ‘Slice and Kiss’ Chinese app, according to Tejas’ relatives, provided him with a loan for some money. He was unable to pay back the money, nevertheless.
At his home in Jalahalli, Bengaluru, Tejas hanged himself. At Yelahanka’s Nitte Meenakshi College, he was enrolled in the engineering program.
The agents allegedly used blackmail to pressure the student into paying back the money by threatening to reveal the intimate
photos that were saved on his mobile phone.
When the student’s father, Gopinath, later learned of the entire incident, he consented to repay the money on his son’s behalf in installments.
Agents from the mobile application allegedly visited the Tejas’ house, used blackmail techniques, and placed threatening phone calls.
Gopinath reportedly asked for more time to pay the loan three days before Tejas passed away, but the creditors apparently refused to budge.
The app agents allegedly called Tejas multiple times on Tuesday night, prompting him to allegedly take the drastic action.
“Sorry mom and dad for whatever I did,” he wrote in a note. There isn’t anything else I can do. This is my final choice because I am unable to repay other loans that are registered in my name. Goodbye
