The Indian School of Business (ISB) will offer a 50 percent fee waiver for armed forces veterans, says the Defence Ministry.
In a groundbreaking move aimed at empowering and enhancing the skill set of ex-servicemen, the Defense Ministry announced a strategic collaboration with the prestigious Indian School of Business (ISB) on Thursday. The initiative, disclosed on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day celebrated on December 7, focuses on providing scholarships to military personnel transitioning to civilian life after retirement.
According to an official statement from the ministry, the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare has forged a partnership with ISB to facilitate educational opportunities for veterans. The collaboration intends to equip armed forces personnel with the latest and in-depth management skills, leveraging the substantial skillset they already possess.
FEE WAIVER
As part of this collaboration, ISB will extend a 50 percent tuition fee waiver across its postgraduate and advanced management programmes, amounting to a total of Rs 2.3 crore annually. This generous scholarship initiative is expected to benefit 22 ex-servicemen each academic year, fostering their academic pursuits and aiding their transition to civilian roles.
Expressing gratitude for the collaboration, Vijoy Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, emphasised the significance of providing educational opportunities to disciplined and enthusiastic armed forces personnel.
He stated, “Most of the armed forces personnel retire at a younger age and are most disciplined, filled with zeal and vigour to serve the country. This initiative will provide a valuable opportunity for our veterans and soon-to-retire personnel to pursue world-class education at the ISB and play a leadership role in making a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.”
The collaboration is particularly timely, aligning with the Armed Forces Flag Day, which commemorates the sacrifices and contributions of military personnel. The Defense Ministry sees this partnership as a key step towards empowering ex-servicemen and facilitating their continued service to the nation in different capacities.
