Casting director Mukesh Chhabra made his directorial debut with ‘Dil Bechara’ in 2020 with Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi. The film turned out to be Sushant’s last one as he was found dead in his apartment before it’s release on June 14, 2020. Now, in an interview with The Lallantop, Mukesh has referred to Sushant as his ‘best friend’ and revealed that he can’t listen to songs from ‘Dil bechara’ because of the memories associated with them. Mukesh said that he wasn’t aware of Sushant’s situation and asserted that he would have talked about it with the late actor if he had a hint of his struggles. Mukesh said, ‘It was during the pandemic. If I knew what he was going through, I would’ve gone and spoken to him. We used to meet very often. From his first film to his last one, our relationship remained strong.’ He lauded Sushant’s determination for the projects he had, but also called him an ‘oversensitive person’ and added, ‘He would get affected very easily. He would get upset with people very easily. He would get very upset if he read a negative article about himself. He was an oversensitive person, we all are.’ A while ago, Mukesh had addressed ‘misconceptions’ surrounding Sushant’s alleged ‘arrogance’. In an old interview Mukesh had said, ‘Sushant had said no to so many films just because of ‘Paani’. People assumed that his newfound stardom had caused him to develop an arrogance. But he was genuinely happy and excited about the film.’ For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
