Kanwariyas are devotees of Lord Shiva. They visit Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy water from the Ganga during the auspicious Hindu month of Shravan. This year, the kanwar yatra began on July 4.
