Out of the total 17 sanctioned posts, including the Chief Justice, five posts are still lying vacant. Till July 2023, the responsibility of disposal of total 94,627 pending cases in the High Court will depend on only 12 judges.Earlier, Justice Sureshwar Thakur and Justice Anoop Chitkara were transferred from the High Court to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh. So far no one has been transferred in his place.Senior advocates Ranjan Sharma, Bipin Chandra Negi and judicial officer Rakesh Kainthala are the new judges to be appointed in the High Court. On Friday, the central government issued a notification of his appointment. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan at 9:15 am on Monday. Ranjan Sharma was born on 21.08.1968. He is a resident of Dharamshala, District Kangra. He completed his schooling from Government School Dharamshala.He passed LLB degree from Rohtak University with gold medal. He was enrolled as an advocate in December 1991. Was designated as Senior Advocate in March 2019. He was also given the charge as Additional Advocate General twice in 2008 and 2018. Ranjan Sharma has practiced in various fields of law.
