Lakshya Sen lost in the semi-finals of US Open: World No. 7 Feng of China defeated 21-17, 22-24, 21-17; Indian challenge in the tournament is over

India’s star shuttler Lakshya Sen suffered a semi-final defeat in the men’s singles at the US Open Super-300 Badminton Championship. With this the Indian challenge in US Open 2023 is over.

All England champion and world number 7 Li Shi Feng of China defeated world number 12 Lakshya 21-17, 22-24, 21-17 in the semi-finals played on Saturday morning.

Lakshya had earlier defeated Feng to win the title at the Canada Open. Feng will face Thailand’s rising star Kunlavut Witisaran in the US Open final.

Lakshya’s final against Feng of China was very exciting in a close encounter. Feng continued to attack and won the semi-final by a margin of 21-17, 22-24, 21-17.

Lakshya’s career
Lakshya, 21, has won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the boys’ singles category in youth badminton. She won the Dutch Open title in 2019 after she started playing in the senior category. In 2019 itself, Lakshya also won the SaarLorLux Open Championship.The golden year of Lakshya started from 2022. Here he won the India Open and won the Thomas Cup and Commonwealth Games gold medal in the team championship for India. In 2022 itself, Lakshya finished runner-up at the German Open and All England Open and in 2023 won his fourth men’s singles title by winning the Canada Open.

The Canadian Open title was Lakshya’s first title this year.
