Being rested for Asia Cup, World Cup
Along with Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour and bowling coach Paras Mhabre will also not go to Ireland. All three will come directly to India after the end of the tour of West Indies and America on 13 August. The coaching staff is being given a break to prepare for the Asia Cup, ODI series from Australia and most importantly the ODI World Cup.Asia Cup will start from 31st August. There will be a 3 ODI series between India and Australia in September. Just after the series, the ODI World Cup will also start in India from October 5. The coaching staff is being given a break so that they can prepare calmly for the important tournament.
Laxman was also with the team on the last tour of Ireland
In the absence of the coaching staff, VVS Laxman will be sent on a tour of Ireland with Team India. He will be accompanied by either Sitanshu Kotak or Hrishikesh Kanitkar as the NCA’s batting coach. At the same time, either Troy Cooley or Sairaj Bahutule will remain as the bowling coach.Laxman was the head coach of Team India on the tour of Ireland last year as well. Then the BCCI sent a youth team under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. India won the 2 T20 series 2–0. According to the reports, this time also the youth team will be sent under the captaincy of Pandya. India will play T20 on 18, 20 and 23 August on Ireland tour.
Bumrah can play T20 in Ireland
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah can be included in Team India on Ireland tour after recovering from injury. As per reports, Bumrah has started bowling in full-flow in the NCA nets. He looks all set to play T20 match. Looking at the Asia Cup and the World Cup, Team India wants to keep him fit and fully prepared.Apart from Bumrah, batsman Shreyas Iyer and wicketkeeper KL Rahul are also in the NCA. Iyer has started batting in the nets, he is likely to be fit till the Asia Cup. While Rahul did not start batting at the moment, it is believed that he will be fit only after the Asia Cup.
