They were guarded by village defence forces when the incident took place.On Sunday, around 30 people climbed a hill and attacked members of the village defence force. One person was killed in the shooting, officials said. The attackers fled after the Assam Rifles reached the spot.Manipur has been witnessing ethnic clashes since May 3 and more than 160 people have lost their lives so far. Though Manipur witnessed a reduction in violence and peace last week, peace was disrupted on Saturday with the killing of a Nara Maring woman in Imphal West. Police have arrested nine people in connection with the woman’s murder.
